92 LT1. Ran perfect for first few hundred miles except the clutch slave was leaking. Been adding fluid until I get time to swap it out.
last week my friend who I bought the car from borrowed it (I know..) and he moved the ARS to top off the clutch fluid. He called me from the side of the road telling me the check engine/ASR/BRAKE lights were on and car had no power. Started it up and I saw fuel shooting out of the #1 injector through the wire connection point. Ordered a 92 spec set from FIC. Fixed that and still barely ran. Checking vacuum lines I found the primer nipple of the master cylinder disconnected. Learned from reading the forum about how air in the system will panic the ASR. Bled the ASR and all lights cleared! Now it ran better, but it is missing, very low on power, but drivable.
When the ASR panics like that can it trash the cats? Before this it ran great. I'm not sure where to start now. Any ideas?
Possibility the engine is in limp home mode. Check the codes and see if anything shows up. It's a possibility you might need to clear the codes if there is any to get it back running again properly.
Even if there are no codes I would still do a re-set by disconnecting battery for an minute and then connect. If there are any codes in the EBTCM (brake computer) which is affiliated with some of the work you did, you need to clear any codes in module 9 by using the speedometer and buttons as you can't clear module 9 with a battery disconnect.
I would also check the fuel pressure if none of the above suggestions work.
Aside from that make sure nothing got unplugged or a wire cut in the area when fluid was being added to the clutch cylinder. Check any connectors you can see even speed density and around.
Other than that basic troubleshooting might be needed.
I did several battery disconnects but didn't know about the EBTCM reset. I'll try that. There are no codes being thrown. Went over every inch looking for disconnected wires/lines.
ASR controls throttle throttle plate. If it has something going on it should set a code. Check fuel pressure. If you have access to old school scope you could check secondary ignition. You could try to power balance by disconnecting injectors looking for weak cylinder.
The wires and connectors to the ECU get brittle with age and heat.
I'm confused. I already said to look at connectors and wires. But in the original post it said the ASR was moved not the ECU. (The 92 has a ECM, not ECU).
I thought it was strange to move the ASR. In any case are we talking about the ECM, that would make more sense.
