I bought an electical connetor tht breaks the circuit to delete cags. I noticed my reverse lights are inop. Is it possible the reverse lights are powered from the same wires?

No - different issue and not unusual for a ZF. Check connector at the B/U switch. Some have removed, 'soaked & exercised' the switch. Regardless diagnose the B/U as a separate issue. Fuse first?

If you get the car up high enough it is not that difficult to put a hand on it. I took mine to a Jiffy lube place and asked them to get at it from the underside from their "pit." I know the guys so they allowed me down there to eyeball. It is a tight squeeze on the upper left side (hot exhaust pipes don't help) but doable- laying on your back makes it more difficult.

I bought a new sensor so the swap was quick- about 10 minutes. The guys did not charge me, but I brought them a case of beer for their efforts.

I'd soak in any petroleum based solvent. In fact you don't need to "soak" if you spray a bunch of WD40 in a plastic sandwich bag a put your switch in there. The main thing is to have that little ball moving ina dn out.

For me? I'd buy a new switch and be done with it.
