Yet another optispark post. I bought the 65 dollar one from amazon and I'm now paying for it. Car makes no power, spark is not the right color and just overall drives and accelerates like turd. Which opti is the best?

AIP unit from Sac City corvette, 2yr warranty, not $65 but not $500 either.
I put a vented Petris in my 94, has been rock solid...not cheap though. It replaced an MSD that someone installed incorrectly and without locktite. Whatever you choose, do it right.

Sorry, my time/labor is worth more than what i save with this optispark (and its non mitaubishi sensor) vs. optidoctor’s optisparks (or an oem unit if you get lucky and find one).

I agree!!!! Talk with Brad. If you have a Mitisibusi sensor used unit he can rebuild. If not buy one from him and throw your Chinese sensor in the trash. Be done with it for a long time.
Beadblast the plate, install new bearing, check wheel for flatness, clean sensor, new MSD cap and rotor, loctite screws, seal case with a special gummy sealant and test.

Okay. Cost for one 95/96 model with my core, if you do that.
I just had a 96 vented Opti fail. I lost both the high and low resolution signals. It just stopped working when I was waiting at a stop light. There was no indication of any problem prior to the failure. This is a GM OE (Delphi?) that is 13 years old with 7000 miles. I have not taken this one apart yet to inspect the internals.
The original Opti that was installed when the car was built lasted 10 years with 40,000 miles. That one stopped sending the high resolution signal. The inside of this one was clean and dry.
I seem to have bad luck even with the Mitsubishi sensor.

Heat is a huge factor in electronics as we all know. The Opti is in a very hot environment.
Maybe set up a duct that brings fresh cool air to it, via AC system we all use whenever driving on sunny days only..
Seriously, I am sure Mitsubishi made great stuff in the 80's, as this part came from the eclipses. But, that was the 80's
….. I agree … the Opti Spark distributor has no contribution to the strength of the spark … it merely provides the data for the occurrence and timing of spark and the distribution of the spark via the cap and rotor …..
