Tom400CFI, My numbers were clearly wrong. First, I said without thinking, "at any range", which is fud. I didn't mean that. I knew LT1's peak number was near that of L98. Like with all intakes that open up the flow, it just moves the peak torque higher up the RPM range. What I should have said is that L98's peak torque is at 3200 RPM which is more ideal for street, than if higher up. So at 3200RPM, L98 has considerably more torque than LT1. What I didn't know, and where I had a misconceptions was.....

1) According to graph, at 3200rpm, torque difference is more like 25 ft lbs.

2) My 85 L98 had often been quoted as 340-350 ft lb TQ, and I incorrectly thought LT1's torque at same RPM was around 260-270 ft lbs. That's how I came up with 80 ft lbs. Not sure why I thought 270ft lbs, I was clearly wrong. Maybe I was getting confused with 84 TBI numbers? But 84 quotes as 290 ft lbs peak. Or maybe I got confused with other high flow intakes' like stealth/mini rams that torque drops off signifcantly at under 3200rpm. But still that's closer to 40-50ft lbs.

Copy all that.

I dig your idea though. If you could have that ~3-3500 RPM tq "swell" that the TPI provides, then switch to a mid length runner at ~35-3700....so you could pull onward to ~6k, effectively, that would be a nice engine.
