Default Adding coolant temp sensor to 92 water pump

I need a second engine coolant temp sensor on my lt1 for an aftermarket ecm. I'm thinking of drilling and tapping the water pump on the opposite side of the original location for the coolant temp sensor. Anyone see an issue with this before I drill my water pump? Thanks in advance.

Why not just use the cylinder head for the extra temp sensor?

I've considered that but it appears the plug on the side of the head is a lot smaller then what the o.e sensor size is, unless there's a sensor to fit it that I'm not aware of. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Why not just use a reducer on the cylinder head fitting?
