I ordered a set of these. They are similar to the pace setter, but the collector is higher up. They surely won't bolt to the factory exhaust, but for applications where you are deleting the cats and doing your own down pipe these might be a good option.
I'll report back. For $148 if they don't work on the C4, they will make decent turbo headers for something else lol.
Should get long tubes... and a full exhaust. Shortys are worthless for any power gains
True to a degree. On my 800+ hp track car I run long tubes, although not tuned for the operating range, they are just off the shelf stainless long tubes.
On most of my 400-450hp street cars I just use short tube headers. I have used hooker long tubes on C4's before and they are not bad, but I'd prefer a short stainless header over a mild steel long tube.
So these actually fit quite well. They took about 30 minutes to install. They come with gaskets and little curved collectors which is nice. I may or may not use the collectors but for someone that wants to cut their stock y-pipe or cats out and run a 45/60* bend into their factory exhaust these are a good option.
Alternatively I could cut the collectors off and weld ball + socket flanges.
Unlike the pacesetter they don't rub the heater / ac box. Which is good. As with any header, I'd wrap the fuel lines with some DEI thermal reflective wrap.
Very similar to the shorties I previously had on mine which did rub the heater box. I got AN adapter fittings and stainless line and re routed fuel lines. worst part was it made plugs ridiculous to change. Ive since moved onto Hooker Ceramic LT's
Nice job, looks like a clean install. I installed a set of ceramic coated Doug's shorties on my 95 coupe and needed to be somewhat creative but they mated up quite well to the stock exhaust. I always liked shorties on a non-track machine.
The flanges are thick. I think they are good replacements for the stock header on a L98 or manifold on an LT1 in a 400ish HP street car, which is the goal here.
The pacesetter is probably closer to a 'direct fit' header, but I like the idea of a stainless header over a painted mild steel header.
Is the meeting flange to the downpipe of the exhaust, the front why, a direct fit? Or is there some fabrication or something that needs to be done to fit a standard friend Wai from a L 98 or LT one?

It will not mate with the stock ypipe or front pipes. This car is emissions exempt and has no catalytic converters, so I have two 90* mandrel bends going to header buddy's to meet the headers.
