Lookin at the greenwood sig series and the aci wing that is pretty much the same as the greenwood. Why is the greenwood more expensive, is it just the name or is it actually better. I'm not sure but the greenwood wing comes with brackets the bolt dirrectly to the frame- I don't think the ACI does. Lastly is there any real performance gain after installing the wing or is it just all looks. Thanks in advance.
Purely for looks. You need to be moving over 150 for any real benefits. Can't do that on RT 23. I'd skip it and go for some performance benefits first. Tires, rims, brakes, rear, exhaust, etc. If you want handing, go for tires or HAL Qa1 shocks. If you want looks, go for rims and flares. Wings just look cheesey and ricey.
P.S. Grew up two blocks from the intersection of 23 and Hamburg Turnpike. We go for rides nearby all the time. Check out the NE section for info.
My car came with a spoiler. If I could have, I would have chosen NOT to have it. I like the looks of the car better without it. But, I'm kind of stuck with it.
I saw a Vette this weekend, tinted windows, lowered with a nice looking Greewnwood style spoiler on the back. Evidently it was only attached to the rear by bolting it to the top of facia (the flexible stuff). The outter layer under the spoiler was cracked and missing in some areas. Ugh. I don't know how they are supposed to attach, but that one was definately wrong. Hint. Hint. Make sure you do not make the same mistake. Have fun.
I get tired of the ricer comments. It is your car, some spoilers and ground effects stuff look good. Have fun with your car. I guess if we lived in China we would all be driving plain jane light gray colored Corvettes :D
If vettes were meant to have wings, then GM would have given them wings!
One of the best things about a Vette (which is true of ALL vettes from C1 to C5), is the CLEAN, uncluttered, not overdone looks. Simplicity makes a bold statement, especially in these days of gaudy, elaborate, showy cars with ground effects and spoilers and neon crap, etc...
You own a Vette. You are already part of an elite group. Don't make it look like the rest. You don't need spoilers or ground effects, you already have what everyone else wants.
All for looks. In my opinion, bad looks. If the car was meant to have a spoiler it would have come with one. Besides, even at high speeds, most aftermarket spoilers do nothing but compress the rear suspension. Most of the downward force is lost.
I did figure out why they are so common on Civics. The owners apparently feel we need an advantage so they have generously increased weight and air resistance while gaining no performance benefits. Isn't that nice of them?

The best part is that these wings will, at great enough speed, add a downward force to their drive wheels. OH, that's right! Front wheel drive! ;) If that's the case, shouldn't they have the wing on the hood?
