Default Radio display lighting question

The display lighting on my Bose radio is significantly darker on the left one-third of the panel than the rest of it. Is this easily repairable?

If you are electrically inclined you could probably tear it apart and replace the bulbs if that's your problem. If its an LCD it may be harder. Most people send them out or replace them. Try RadioJoe if you want to send it out.

If I remember right there are 4 small lamps that supply the lite for the panel.
Taking it apart is not hard and replacing the bulbs is easy. I think I got the extra bulbs from Radio Shack. A local Delco Radio repair place will sell you the bulbs also.

If they are the backlight bulbs around the LCD display, on mine there were 3. I got the bulbs from Radio Shack. The old bulbs have to be un-soldered from the circuit board and the new ones soldered in. If you're handy at this, it shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise, you might have someone else do it as there's not much room to work and it's a PITA to take it apart to get at them.

I just finished putting my head unit back together after replacing the 3 bulbs. I got them at Radio Shack, and it wasn't too rough of a job if you're patient. Now I just have to hope I fixed the problem. I'll find out tomorrow morning when I plug it in before work.
