Default Dynoed Vette today

Dynoed the Vette today. The big jump in the graph apparently was caused by the stall converter. Car made 296 hp and about 370 torque

Nice, I will eventually be looking for similar numbers with my 88. I think 300hp and 400tq in a 3000lb car is an adequate amount of go for a daily driver.

What are your current mods.... with that much torque I imagine it is an L98??

I have the superram, AFR 180 heads with 64 cc chambers, long tube headers, lingenfelter 211/219 cam, scorpion 1.6 roller rockers and Borla catback. Also the pistons are flattops. Wishing I would’ve went with the 219/219 cam but at the time I didn’t have the superram. Don’t know why but really think it should be making more power then that. My fuel ratio runs 12.5-12.8 by the wideband. My total timing is only 29.18 in my tune but more than that and the ecm will pull timing. I’m wondering though if I can run higher ignition timing in the mid range and bring it down on the top end, it only pulled timing at redline. I have my total timing of 29.18 in by 2800 rpms.

You definitely should be able to run more timing. I was at 34-35 degrees with my SuperRam with 11.5 compression. Different motors and combination I realize.

That is quite the motor. I feel it should be making more power as well. What type of stall are you running?

Honestly the power numbers are about right for a 350 with those heads, intake and camshaft..... A4 and stall converter can eat up some power. Also that's a bit generous because the Dyno's Correction Factor is set to STD not SAE.....

What about your exhaust set up? Still Y Pipes and single converter? Headers?

I built a mild 383 Super Ram, old style AFR 195s, LPE 219 cam for a 91 few years ago and it made like 340RWHP and 400RWTQ on a Land and Seas chassis dyno.... the car still had the y pipe and stock single converter..... We were kinda disappointed but it was what it was...... After we converted the car's exhaust to a 92-96 LT1 dual exhaust and Hooker long tubes.... it seemd to run much stronger. Re-Dyno'd it and sure enough, it made 390 and 440.....

I agree. I ran similar numbers with AFR 187 heads, ZZ9 roller/Edelbrock hi flow runners..In fact the numbers were about spot on....and I had a 355 cube rebuild....now when I went to the miniram, that’s when life changed!

Having said that...agree with other comments too...more timing..mine liked 36 degrees at WOT...that’s pretty much pushing it though....lean it out to 13.5:1 at WOT...you will see a few more ponies.....
that RWTQ is very nice ....thanks for sharing!

As far as leaning it out should it be 13.5 throughout the rpm range or should it start out richer then lean out in the higher rpms?

I agree it could run a bit leaner being a NA set up. I am honestly shocked the Super Ram didn't get closer to 5K RPMS for max power. Probably would have with the 219/219 Cam.

With that amount of torque and the hp dropping off that fast, I'm thinking the stock y-pipe is your restriction. You're certainly hitting your peak torque really low - not counting that weird torque converter bump, your peak torque is happening around 2500 rpm, really low with that cam and head combo, even with the super ram. I'm leaning towards an exhaust restriction.

Don't be..... It's quite common. The 91 383 I built using the LPE 219 cam, actually made peak power 4800 and then flattened out to about 5500RPM with the single cat and Y Pipe exhaust system in place......

https://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/Noland91.jpg

Now the exhaust change helped out quite a bit with power production but power still leveled off flat from 5000RPM on up..... The car still runs well, has a lot of power and is pretty fast on the street.

I know the ypipe is still a restriction even though I have a 2.5 inch ypipe. But I have the smog police here in Cali.

Yes, seeing 4800-5000 would be more what I would expect, not 4600RPM. I would be very interested to see how this combo would work with a better exhaust. See if it would allow the RPMs to shift up some.

At WOT; optimum AFR is 14:7 under normal driving/idle conditions. But you can't be that lean at WOT; you would have detonation in some cases and possibly running hot.

Can you run a larger diameter y-pipe? Burns Stainless has larger diameter y-pipes, or if ground clearance is an issue, they have oval tubing as well that you could have fabbed up into a high flow y-pipe.

As far as I know the original was 2.25. I bought an aftermarket 2.5 inch and hacked it up for my headers. I know tpis makes a 3 inch. I just burned a chip last night. I got my timing to come in at 32 by 2800 but brought it down to 29 past 4800. So far no knock counts. Also leaned out my afr got it at 12.8. My butt dyno is saying I gained something. Going to play with it again and see.
