Tire selection has a factor when making a decision: what type of driving do you do? Mine does cruising and for that BFG G-Force tires work well. They handle streets and curvy back roads fine and ride well too. I neither take the car to the track or drag strip so others would need to speak to those situations.

If you are shopping for tires, there are "summer" tires available. Summer tires are not intended to be used in 40*, something to be aware of.

Same with me. Just a cruiser , no track or drag. I see nitto and continental have sizes for my car. I’ve only checked Tire Rack so far.

They seem to be a popular choice. I would check www.discounttire.com ...free shipping, rebates. I would checkout Coopers, I don't think TR sells them. They have a new all season(if its a cruiser I would stay away from "summer tires", especially if you're driving it in the spring /fall, if its cold,(40* as mentioned) it will be like driving on ice. On another car I have Cooper RS3-G1 (I think thats the model) and they are all seasons that come in the size you're looking for and are about $130 (see if there's rebates, usually $70-$100)

Thank you. I found continental tires locally, and nitto. They seem to be the ones that everybody has in the sizes I need. I’m gonna check out diccounttires too.

A couple years ago I got the Continental extreme contact DW and they are a good value. Not the best tire, but very good for the price. Good handling, good ride, quiet at speed.

Tires... I put new continentals all the way around. Didn’t help. Just a quick question. Where are the front springs? I opened the hood to look at the suspension, and see only shocks. It’s probably a stupid question but I’m used to seeing springs. I “bounced” the front end pretty good with the hood opened hoping to see something bottoming out or broke, etc but nothing. What type of bushing damage should I be looking for? Control arm? Sway bar? Thanks! I’m gonna keep looking.

These cars use transverse leaf springs front and rear, about 3.5 inches wide running side to side. So if you're looking for coil springs, you won't find any unless a previous owner did a swap. In the front, I believe the transverse springs attach to the lower control arms.

Oh ok. Do these weaken like the old school rear leaf springs?

They don't weaken by what I am aware, if they are in good condition. But obviously they can get damaged / delaminated, this is a serious issue when it happens.

What air pressure are you running? I like 31-32 for the rears and 32-33 for the fronts

Before this past Saturday when I had the continentals installed I was running 30 all the way around with the Goodyear Eagle F1s. With the new tires I’m not sure what the shop put in them. I’ll have to check when I get home.

My Goodyear’s were at 50 when I bought the car. I dropped them down to 30 but didn’t make a difference.

Honestly, I think if your FX3 shocks are ok, and the bushings check out, it boils down to the ride characteristics of a C4....They are notorious for riding stiff.... Find someone who has a C4 and take them for a ride or let them drive it and see what their assessment is Just my .02

Riding stiff is one thing but when I hit a bump it’s pretty harsh to say the least. Sometimes I wonder how my 2009 Dodge Caravan rides super smooth but a vette can’t. Lol. Still trying to wrap my head around that. That’s one of the reasons I’m not yet ready to settle for the “it’s the way it is” idea. I wish I knew someone close with a 94. I’d definitely compare the ride to theirs.

Well, I know with 100% certainty my 34k mile ZR-1 is in excellent condition regarding the FX3 system, the bushings and transverse springs. When it hits a hole or a bump, or even some of the expansion cracks in the roads, its pretty harsh. Your minivan is supposed to ride smoothly... your sports car is not.

But wouldn’t we want our sports car to ride smooth with good performance, like horsepower, overdrive transmissions, etc? I’ve always heard a vettes ride is nothing like a Cadillac but I feel like I’m in a grocery cart hitting a 2 inch curb. With independent suspension, FX3 option, etc, I’m hoping to fix what’s wrong, if something’s wrong, or squeeze a little more smoothness out of it somehow.
