Default Ball Joint Replacement???

Hello, I'm thinking my ball joints need to be replaced (see pics). If i have that done are there other suspension replacement items I should do? Perhaps, a bushing replacement kit? It's a 96 ce with approximately 23K. The original shocks still look good to me. It has the base suspension (FE1). Thanks.

It sure looks like it was kept greased. At 23k it might be fine but very dirty. I would clean it up first.

They "leaked" when someone went crazy with a grease gun.

I'm assuming power washing underneath isn't a good idea??? Any other ideas for cleaning the under carriage?

Not sure just bought the car about a month ago. I think I paid to much. 16K for 96 C4 Collector Edition (22K miles), LT1. Wish I would have join the forum first to get some help. Thanks everyone.

Don't worry I paid too much also for a 96 base. I would not pressure wash the ball joints or tie rod ends. It will force water inside them. You can pressure wash everything else EXCEPT the engine. I know it sounds daunting but I would attack with paint thinner on a rag. You will need quite a few rags. Just as an aside on my 96 with 27k miles I did replace the tie rod ends. I tore one open to see how much of the "lifetime" grease was left. There was no grease at all. One little 3/16" black ball of something. Went with moog greaseable.

Thanks Whaleman, I appreciate the encouragement. I guess I'll look into a lift/jack stands and take my time cleaning. 62 years old and my first corvette. It's a blast driving it; I don't think I've gotten above 3500RPM yet.

Correction: I replaced the tie rod ends not the ball joints. You can clean it up as I did and I am 67.
