96'coup /key sloppy ,no spring back ,have steering column out and actuator rod not moving the gear from key and sliding gear had become jammed. I not sure if I did something wrong or not, had all apart in December of 2018 to replace tilt bearings. Were dose the spring back of key come from ,I read from the ignition switch on lower column and auto parts said old one bad so I bought new one you can slide ok but no spring ? Last time apart end of column would not reach intermediate shaft ,this time id like to find all demons ,I saw DVD for sale $35 at Saginaw company about steering column assembly is this worth having do you know . I need a guide to get all back together right .when finished with first operation back in December the key was starting fine , but with column together ,intermediate shaft would not bolt up column too short needed good 1" .friend said will it bolt apart so I tried and just had enough to reach bolt in intermediate shaft and assemble the rest again from Kunkle joint up .thanks for your time .there's photo on file of column to shaft if it helps explain

I used this guide when rebuilding my tilt column. This is guide is not Corvette specific, so there are some differences between our cars and the guide (cruise control wiring, the lack of VATS on the ignition cylinder, for example), but this plus the factory shop manuals got me through my rebuild successfully: Inside The GM Tilt Steering Column
