My name is Paul and I just purchase a 1985 corvette and I have a question if anyone is able to help. I was replacing the water pump on the car and when I hooked up my TPI Air Injection Valve back up. I notice that there is a pipe that is snaked threw the AC Compressor bracket down to the bottom and it is not hooked up to anything. I looked thru my shop manual and I was unable to find out anything. I want to keep the car a original as possible and I like to know where it is hooked up, Thanks for any help or information and is welcomed. Please see the attached photo.

Reason: miss spelling
If I had to guess I'd think it's part of your EGR system. A lot of people disconnect that system if they start tinkering on their car. Some say it's for horsepower reasons (though I don't think it really adds any horses to remove it), but if nothing else it cleans up your engine bay considerably to have all of that out of the way.
I'll have to take a look under my hood when I get a chance to give you a better answer, but if your car is running fine right now, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
That is probably the inlet for the air pump exhaust. When the AIR valve(s) are closed the air from the pump just goes overboard through that pipe. It might be hard to see, but if you follow it down it ends in a small muffler to quiet it down some.
Tod, I seen that tub with the muffler at the end, that was taken off when I changed the water pump. I sanded that part and painted it as well before putting it back on. This pipe is snaked in between the the A/C compressor bracket right next to the gas lines.
I do not have an oil cooler on the car and this pipe is not on the drivers side. I have a hose coming off the TPI Air Injection Valve and it's connected to this pipe.

Well then it's either the pipe to the passenger-side exhaust manifold or the injection pipe to the cat, number 1 in the diagram. AIR pipes
Tod, you may be right. I just got the car about a week ago and I have not been under the car, I''ll check to see if the cat was remove. if so I'm assuming just leave the pipe as is or should I add another pipe or hose blowing down and away from the engine, what is your advise ?
i don't know what the difference is between the 85 and the 89 but, here is what the emissions look like on the 89. you can see the hose with the 'muffler' attached to it that goes down in front of the water pump. i had my tubes powder coated a silver color.
The 85 and 89 are different in set up, but probably function in the same manner. Its not the muffler tube as I posted before, that is hooked up in the correct location, I'll take a few photos and post them for everyone's review...
