I can unlock the door with the key but the alarm sounds, to turn it off I must walk around to the passenger door. Do I need to check some wires inside the door or is the lock worn out, etc. ?
There is a switch on the back of the lock cylinder that disarms the alarm. The switch can be replaced, just be aware that there is a left and right side switch.
The switch in the drivers exterior door lock is dirty/corroded. Not easy to get to! To prevent the alarm from sounding, you can lock the door from the inside with the sliding lock, rather than the lock button, before you close the door. Or you can lock the door from the outside by using your key. Those procedures will not set the alarm.
OP, are you doing a simple unlock? As in, insert key, turn toward back, turn upright and remove key?
Mine, I do a combo-method-I-won't-post to avoid triggering the alarm. As far as I know, it's the right way; minor possibility it's really a problem that I luckily found a workaround that's worked for four years!
yes, a simple unlock, I haven't figured out a way to beat it other than unlocking the passenger side first. Looks like I'm going inside the door again, not my favorite way to spend a morning.
