I've had an antifreeze leak for the past few weeks and last night located the source. The water pump gasket is leaking at the bottom of the pump, I had to use a mirror to locate it. Should I try some type of fix a leak stuff that you put in the radiator or should I replace the gasket.
If I do replace the gasket I will replace the water pump since I'm in thier. Which pump do you guys suggest. Thanks for the help!!!!!
If the gasket is leaking, I would suggest new gaskets. If you want to replace the water pump go with a Meziere electric pump if you're into performance.
You might have missed that the leak is from the weep hole on the bottom of the boss the water pump shaft comes out of. If so, you need a new water pump. This spring , this happened to my 87 and I installed a Stewart water pump which has 41% more flow than stock and my coolant temp no longer soared at stop lights this summer. The Stewart pump cost me $104 to my doorstep.
