I did this this afternoon, and it's now working fine, just as you indicated. A very simple fix. And the fuse was red --- a 10 amp. Thanks to all who had input.
Pulling the fuse does get rid of the light and the cruise control. I put a piece of black tape over the lights. So I could have my cruise for my trip to NCM. May pull the fuse again. Bulbs are to hard to get at.
could the cruise control be jumped to get power from another circuit. this way the light goes out and we lose no functionality. This would a great solution. Is that possible? Also the cruise control isnt connected to the traction control is it? I remember once I lost traction and the gas pedal pushed iself up against my foot to get me off the gas.
Super easy. The LTPWS bulbs are completely separate from the DIC; when you pull the DIC you'll see that they twist into their own unique spots on the back of the DIC. Just untwist the two, yank the bulbs out, then twist them back in so they don't rattle around behind the dash. Here's a video of pulling it too:

The cruise control is connected to the TCS. Specifically, the EBTCM (ABS/ASR computer) is connected to the cruise control cutoff relay. Do you have a FSM for your year? If you do not I highly recommend you get one.

yes i have one. would pulling the fuse affect my antilock brakes and traction control?

If you have one, you could find out for yourself. In the section "fuse block details" you can see that Fuse 32 supplies power to the LTPWS module, the cruise control engage switch, and the cruise control cutoff relay. If you remove this fuse, you lose cruise control. It won't affect the ABS or ASR, but it will prevent the cruise control from working.

could I just remove the wire from fuse 32 that goes to the LTPWS? What color is that wire? That would be the best thing wouldnt it? Then it can always be reconnected for some reason if I wanted to. or I could cut the wire and put connectors on each end to reconnect if I wanted to. What do you think ? Better than taking the virgin dash apart no ?

Again, if you refer to your FSM, you can see exactly where and what color those wires are. There is only a single wire from fuse 32 all the way until Splice 287, at which point it splits off to the different components. However, even after splitting off, all components have the exact same pink wire. In addition, Splice 287 is located behind the instrument panel.
