Please be careful with your oil/diesel mix. In fact, I would advise against it. The diesel will thin out the oil considerably and as the temperature increases, so do the chances for metal-to-metal contact.

I would advise you remove the oil pan and clean it to remove as much antifreeze contamination as possible.

One last thing, after the first oil flush I suggested above, I would run the following batch 2.5-3K miles and change again. This should remove most of antifreeze from the block.

Thank those of you who gave recommendations about contaminated oil. I want to express what happened due to the loss of fluid in my radiator fill tank, months before finding the contaminated oil. For at least 3 months, including two oil changes (days before I found contaminated oil on the dip stick) I ran straight tap water in the radiator fill tank while assessing the situation about where the water was going.

I did not have smoke coming from the tail pipes. I did not have contaminated oil when checking the dip stick. I did not have fluid leaks, other than an oil leak, but was not successful in tracing the oil leak to find it's origin. I believed that the number 8 side of the head was leaking this oil, from the gasket.

Days after a successful oil and filter change, I checked the oil to find that I had contaminated oil on the dip stick. I had not driven the car more than a week prior to this event, and I removed the contents of the oil pan immediately after finding the contaminated oil.

A stock car racing buddy recommended that I remove the oil, and oil filter, and wash the interior of the engine with diesel, with no water in the radiator, and run the engine to wash the system with diesel, thus flushing the contaminated oil out of the engine. I did that, and ran the engine with no coolant, only a few quarts of oil and about three quarts of diesel. I plan to fill the oil pan with diesel, then remove to wash out any contamination.

I do plan to do the repair, reinstall all parts, and let the car idle with fresh oil and filter for the suggested amount of time, change the oil and filter, then drive for a while, then do another oil and filter change. The engine had not ran hot, so I anticipate no damage to the heads. My number 7 plug won't come out. I will wait and lube it when I take the head off to get that plug out. All other plugs came out with no problem. I am presuming that the gasket failed near number 7 cylinder.

This is a very old Internet debate. If you have TTY (torque to yield) head bolts then you're supposed to replace them. If you have standard non TTY bolts then they can be re used. That being said I have re used TTY head bolts lots of times. Should I have replaced them? Yes. But I've gotten away with it lots of times. So YMMV.

Thanks for your comments about the head bolts. I will assess and decide to use new bolts or reuse what I take out.

Three quarts of diesel in the pan equates to a 60/40 mix of diesel and oil respectively. I'm sure this has been done before, nevertheless, it's very risky.

I did an oil analysis on my 2018 Direct-injected Silverado and the lab freaked out about a 2.5% fuel dilution in the oil. You should send them a sample of your 60% diluted oil. They'd probably have a heart attack.

No, sir, I will not send them a sample. Everyone has their op[inion about this, about everything in the world. I do not want too many opinions. People in my local market with some experience are more viable than someone who will have their 'expert' opinions.

I will keep this exercise short and sweet. I will not be interested in getting criticism for a lot of people.
