It was under the distributor in the back of engine ...

Does the dash work except for the tach?
That wire goes to the tach filter mounted to the bell housing area in back of the distributor.
You'll need to take the wiper motor off to even see it. The brown wire is obviously off it. There should be another one on it hopefully.

that goes into the distributor beside the pink wire with the wite terminal.
