I certainly have enough of this fiberglass mat stuff that I don't need to be stingy. I'm thinking maybe 4 or 5, as much as it takes to bring the repair flush with the rest of the floor pan, then grind the bottom side a bit and do a few layers there.
My hole is right in the corner, I think my biggest difficulty will be building something up to keep the the stuff in place while it cures. I think I may try and cut something out of foam to match the contours of the pan in all three dimensions, then glue wax paper or something to it.

Duct tape with wax paper on top?
Definitely make sure you have at least 1 inch of paint free area for the epoxy to grab hold of.

to the op with the red floor. you just have cracks here.
all i would do is use a dremel or very rough grit hand sand a good inch of the paint back exposing the resin below, and then lay down a good bead of the epoxy resin an do your best to flatten the bead edges.
if you cannot “mate” the inside and the underside epoxy i would drill some holes along the crack so the inner and outer epoxy layers are in communication.
i wouldnt even use the fiberglass.
if you apply it right, smooth-ish, just paint over it when done and it will look pro.

Yep, no worries, I have plenty of space all around the hole to grind it down properly for good adhesion. Here's the hole I'm working with. Broken areas have already been cut out, but I still need to grind it out properly before the repair:
I'm fabbing something up out of cardboard to conform to the shape. I intend to putty the corners to get the right contour, and then I'll find some way to glue wax paper (or something else non-stick) to it. My intent is to hold this in place from underneath with a floor jack while I work from the top.

WOW almost identical...the 2nd pic is what came out of it. I wonder if that's a bondo fix
Great info guys... I placed wax paper underneath with tape on a floor jack with a plywood peace to hold it up horizontally until I complete the inside then I’ll move to underneath to add more layers ... will post once completed ...
