Found More Than I Bargained For...
After a tedious and determined search last weekend, I found the nickel I lost over the summer (circled in red)...

Seriously, my father and I began the journey into uncharted territory last weekend. We began wiring the FX3 switch by taping into a 12V source for the light and providing a ground. (Explaining the torn apart center console)Also, we decided to get brave and attempt to eliminate the after market security system. (Explaining the torn apart driver's knee bolster) Removing the knee bolster provided a good source of amusement as 10 pounds of after-market wires intertwined with the facotry wiring and harnesses. More than 1/2 of the system was not hooked-up leaving only hook-ups for the door locks, parking lights, siren voltage, and system voltage, along with a glass/microwave sensor and shock sensor. Removing all of this should enable me to gain about .002 seconds in the 1/4 mile. ;) (Or at least provide a lower load on my electrical system) :yesnod:
Facing the unexpected, I encountered something unusual. I removed the passenger side knee bolster and started nosing around (AKA getting myself in trouble) and I discovered some after-market wiring leading to strange places. Examining the Radio Receiver Box, I discovered a connection on the outside(facing the exterior)-side with four wires, large orange, pink, black, and a yellowish white wire. The yellowish-white wire has a wire tapped into it, running to a dead end. The orange wire has a red wire tapped into it, runs over, and taps into the positive connection on the cigar lighter. The car had a facotry cell phone installed but is now removed.
Question: What is the yellowish-white and orange wire running from oblivion to the Radio Reciever Box? Are they power wires from the Radio fuse in the fuse box? Any idea why there would be a after market power wire running from the Radio Reciever Box to the factory power wire on the cigar lighter (amounting to two wires suppling 12V)? Does it have something to do with the Radio Reciever Box outputing 14V versus the cigar lighter's 12V's? Was it for a more powerful connection? There has been no shorts or anything like that, should I leave it? I do not know if it was related to the security system, car phone, or someone's boredom. Any ideas would help, so I can fix the wiring and assemble my Corvette's interior.
Thanks! :flag
-on all the time.
-switched with ignition.
-controlled by interior light dimmer.
Hope this helps.
It is not showing - or, I am not seeing - a white-ish/yellowish and orange wire going to and from the head/reciever pack.
my only thought... the wiring is designed to integrate sound into the bose system.
now, there is an orange wire that goes to the amps and provides switched power. could that be what this does? kill the bose amps when a call comes in?
I found that the white/yellowish wire was the power source for the facotry car phone that was installed (contained an in-line fuse). I am still confused about the red wire connecting the the cigar lighter and the power wire on my radio reciever box. Does anyone else have this wire? Mine does not appear stock, so removing it should not create harm, correct?
Thanks for the information and effort everyone.

I am pretty sure you are right TIMSPEED, from what I recall of the wiring diagram. I can not be 100% sure, but when I dim the interior lights, I can almost recall my radio head unit remaining at 100% brightness, maybe the previous owner attached a constant 12V source to eliminate the dimming of the head unit. I will have to test that when I have everything together and the battery back in the car.
I will probably remove the wire after a few thorough meter tests, thanks for the suggestions everyone.
Take Care.
