Default 96 - Climate Control Issue

My 96 CE AT heat works fine at start but gradually gets cooler the longer I drive. After a period of time it starts to feel cool, and I need to bump up the temperature to about 81 and above to get it warm again. Just flushed the coolant and heater core and added a new thermostat (180). Also, there are no climate control codes displaying (shows "00").

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Try running in the Recirculation mode, in automatic mode your car is cold it pumps heat and as the car gets warm it cuts back. Or at least that's what my car seems to do.

Re-circulation also blows cool until temp is 81 degrees and above.

Also, noticed when in defroster mode air is not blowing from the front windowshield vent. Maybe it's a climate control module issue?

Definitely a possibility, I had replace it in my car. In my case a/c compressor wouldn't run and vents were a little tempermental.

Once I got it off the firewall opened the back of it lots of Corrosion and I think a cracked board. So I threw in the one I found.

My 94 does the same thing I have to keep bumping the temperature up to keep it warm. When I hit 85 that is the maximum regulation temperature it will regulate the blend door. After that, 90 it the next step up and it just goes full heat with no regulation. If you can stand the heat then you just have to take it till you get to hot. I found if I go back to 85 in time it starts to regulate. Definitely not the greatest heat controller.

Many have complained about this heater function. And it seems it does not matter what mode you are in, they all work about the same perhaps with a slight difference. That just seems to be how our cars function and we just have to deal with it.

Thanks all. Will definitely keep checking back for solutions.

I think I'm going to tackle the ac programmer next as several others have.
