Targa top glass replacement
Has anybody here done it? If so how did you do it? I couldn't find any videos on YouTube on how to do it but maybe I didn't use the right search words, I dunno. A friend gave me a top with a big crack in it and I'd like to try to replace the cracked glass (I know, it's not glass, it's acrylic) myself if at all possible. Also, where can I get the replacement glass for it? I see them on eBay but they only have the smoke color available, I'd like to get a blue tinted one instead. Any help is appreciated.

Be very careful what you spend those hard earned dollars on.
I bought a replacement for my top at an inexpensive "swap your top" shop at Corvettes@Carlisle and it worked "great" until one hot day I closed my door and the entire roof panel jumped upward a couple inches. The original glue had failed allowing the panel to separate from the frame. I am very glad it happened in my driveway. I would hate to be behind a Corvette if they loose their roof panel at speed. I do not want to ever see this problem occur while I own this Corvette!
I hired a guy who installs glass for a living to come to my house and help remove the old glue and re-attach it to the frame with new glue. He charged $75 to re-glue the acrylic panel to the Corvette Frame. Now I have a solidly mounted panel! It was worth every penny to watch how a guy does it "Properly" using the latest adhesives.
I am getting lazy as I age so I pay, part of getting wiser. Find a reputable automotive glass shop and let them accept some of the responsibility of doing it properly.
