C4 convertible trunk latch opens randomly while driving
This is my first post on here, pretty new to the corvette community. Happy to be here. I was driving today and the latches for my convertible “trunk” opened and it flew open. The latches kept actuating for the next few minutes, I’m thinking there may be a short in there somewhere. Any ideas? I’m sure with this car somebody has had every problem there is. Thanks!!

When I was rebuilding my 1986, I discovered by accident that if a wire was grounded out in the door panel it would actuate the hatch glass. This wire in the door panel terminated at the hatch switch. There is one in both doors in a 1986 and I’m not sure what year it was where they stopped putting the hatch switch in the passenger door.

I'll bet you have bad switches. I'd start there. If your switches are good, you will need to start (PITA) tracing grounds to see if you have a pinched wire somewhere.
Did you post the year? Do you have a fob for the car and is it the correct fob? I coupe fob will work on a convertible and the hatch button will pop the convertible lid ( neat trick I learned decades ago) because if you are leaving the fob in your car it could be going bad and popping the lid. Just a thought...it has happened before.

sounds good, I will bust out the electro wash and go to town on the switch connectors. But you’re right, may have to start tracing.

sorry! It’s a 95. Missed a good bit of info there. For a second I thought this may have been it. Got the FOB out of the back, but seems like the batteries in it are dead. Was really hoping that was it.
