Code 42 - help
Ignition Off - Disconnect ECM connectors - Ignition On- probe on ECM harness CKT423 (D4) to Ground CKT453 (B3) - OHM reading 1292, it should be less than 500. Per the manual replace the Ignition Module and had the same results. I've found no faulty connections. Engine surges from 600 to 1100 rpm at idle. Ideas are welcome. I've also posted in the general area.
Anyone know a good shop in the Arlington, Tx. area?
My 84 is doing the same thing, I replaced the module, computewr, and distributor wiring with no affect on the problem. I just got off of the phone with Gordon Killebrew, and he said it was probably my pick up coil in the distributor. He said to pull the dist., take off the gear pull out shaft, and then I should be able to see the pick up coil. He said it might have a crack in it or just fall apart.
Another tip he gave me was to turn the gear on the oil pump drive one tooth counter clockwise, so when you drop the dist. back into place it will turn clockwise and be in time. Hope this helps.
