Correction, a 3 car garage; one on the lift, one under it, one in the other bay.

I mean, I'm sure there are "2 car garages" that can't accommodate that. I'm sure. BUT...there are also tons of "2 car garages" that most certainly can accommodate that. Mine is one and our garage growing up is another. It's an option that the OP should be aware of, for the cost.

Look if you like 'em...great! I'm not putting you down for having them...I don't like them and am throwing the reasons, and an alternative for the OP. For ME (not for everyone), If Ihave $1200 for a quick jack...then I'll ensure that I have ~5-600 more and get a real two post lift and stop dicking around on my back. Now, if a quickjack were $400? $600?....different story. Then the value might be there. But for $1200 or whatever....get a real lift, IMO. If you like your QJ, great for you . Don't need to defend the thing to me.
I got mine to my door for ~$1025 for the 5K capacity.

I had no option and I studied it hard. In my garage, for the height, I would have had to put the lift right in the center and raise the ceiling. Taking it down to 1 car and always gated on the sides by the posts. When you add that cost in to the purchase of the lift, well it was far more expensive than a quick jack.
I looked at the lower lifting roll away (Max Lift IIRC) but even rolled out of the way, the posts take up a lot of space.

I will say this, If we move again or build. The garage, or a garage on the property, will have the space to accommodate a real lift. There is no substitution. IMO. I doubt I would give these up for other reasons, so far I love them and it has been so much better than a jack and stands. I do however find your reasoning a bit off from the experience of actually owning and using them.

There are a lot of options out there because not everyone's constraints are the same. I will just say it straight here so there is no confusion. If you have the room for a real 2 post lift, don't even think about it, get one.

The weight of the car compresses the blocks by about 1/4" but after I have had it up in the air a handful of time there is no indication of cracking or tearing of the block. I check them before/after each lift. Maybe you just need new blocks?
My blocks compress enough that the frame of the quick jack, specifically the inner rail (closest to the center of the car) gets too close the underside of the car. Next time it's in the air i'll take a picture. It's almost like the square blocks i've got are bad and compress too much. I'd like them to be more rigid.

As a solution i've been using the square block combined with a pinch weld block, where I normally place jackstands.

In the below you’ll see the underside of the car sits lower to the ground thank the rocker pinch weld. If the blocks compress enough, the QJ frame gets too close the body.

Here’s how I’ve been using it combined with a pinch weld block as a solution. Interesting you havnt encountered this makes me wonder if my blocks are defective.

We are setting up a bit differently. I will look through my phone later and see if I can find any more detailed pics of how I have been setting mine up.

Does anyone else just jack up from the metal beam along the bottom near the front suspension? There are notches up there that my jack stands fit into perfectly.

I saw that too, never heard it mentioned as a jack stand point.

That is how I jack the Kart, frequently. Now on the Kart, it's easy to access that x-member....and then after the front is jacked, it's easy to access the rear diff and the exhaust doesn't pass below the diff, so...easy.

In the case of the stock car, getting most jacks under the front air dam and far enough under the car to get the front cross member is tough...then you still need a way to jack the rear, so it's just easier and faster to do it the way that GM tells you to; from the sides.

No, but I do but stands under the front frame with a small gap when I use the QJ. Just an extra safety. Didn't think too much about it as if the car lift fails and comes down a little frame damage compared to being smashed is OK by me. I am suprised you have a low enough profile jack to get under the front and lift.

I used to jack my Camaro up like this, and I had to remove the Airdam to get enough stroke from the handle.

@KyleF my jack barely fits under the air dam. It's a Napa Low Profile Jack.

SO that device slips behind the fiberglass rocker panel, focusing all the lifting force on the pitch weld--clever idea.

@Ronn38
I am surprised nobody has mentioned this on the thread... but before you jack your C4, make sure you open the hood, hatch, remove your roof, and most importantly open your ashtray door.

I got my Quickjack 5000 from Home Depot, they had a sale last xmas. It cost me between $900 and $1000 (don't remember the exact number) shipped to my door. I like that I can move it outside and work on the wifes van in the driveway if I need to, but mostly they stay inside.

I leave mine leaning up against the wall and they take up very little room that way. I have a two car garage, and a two or four post would take up a lot of floor space and I'm sure it would only be a matter of time before I'd damage the car on a post. If I had more space and a better concrete floor I would have thought more about the real lifts, but for now I'm wondering why I didn't get the Quickjack years ago!

Yes, I'm finding my ramps and jack stands just don't give me enough room under the car to do things like a shift kit, etc. fingers crossed for another sale!!!
