Boy should I put the flame suit on for this one.... (but someone's gotta say it!)
I have noticed that there are people here who (in my opinion) lack the experience to post on certain topics. Some feel that posting on every topic in the world is necessary.
No flames. I agree. There are quite a fw on here like that

And I'll third that.
I try to only post on things I have actually done myself firsthand. If I've only read about something (or developed a technical theory on a slow day after a few beers (j/k)) and I mention it in a post I will preface my comments with I read or I think.
It's a shame that some people's lives might be so empty that they have to answer every question on the page in front of them so their username gets the recognition or their post count goes up. :(
If you have to answer with a stab in the dark or you really don't know what you are talking about - please don't post about that topic. A name or two springs to mind but some people need to realise that they could cost somebody some hard earned money or their safety by providing misinformation here. :mad
P.S. : The tech help section on well worn issues (like single mass flywheel conversions and "how to get rid of the Bose" is a good idea.

My other pet peeve is people, who don’t read the whole thread before posting.
I agree with 90% of what has been written. I know that I am even guilty of doing some of he things people are complaining about.
With that having been said....
Anything else we can do here at the Corvette Forum to conform to your pet peeves?
People this is a Forum!
There are Men and woman here from all over the globe. Of course there is going to be differences. That’s one of the things that makes the Forum so great!
Learn to get along with your fellow vetter's differences in tact because if we were all the same, this would be one very boring place to be.
And we would all be driving C4's LOL
In the words of the great Philosopher Rodney King " Cant we all just get along' LOL
gtsyellow has a valid point with respect to storing recurring or trouble shooting issues. Some of the best replies are lost when forum members outgrow their c4's and move on to other things.
The problem with ignorance is that it picks up confidence as it goes along.
That is pretty funny :D.
I have gotten where I hardly ever post anymore since someone that has read a prior response is answering for the rest of us. Fine by me, I don't like typing stuff twice anyway.
Not to offend anyone...but this is a hobby right? I mean if I have to second guess myself before I say or post anything, then I may as well be sitting in my bosses office at work. Plus people are human, face it as long as no-one intentionally tries to give out bad information, I don't see the big deal if someone who is trying to help someone else, makes a mistake. Just my .02.
Everyone that replied to this thread sounds like a bunch of whiny old men with nothing better to do than do the exact oppisite of what this topic preaches; that is, think before you post. You all wasted an entire page on :bs What's next? Who can whaa, whaa, the loudest? :nopity
No offense, friend, but maybe someone with only 9 posts ought not chime in with so much criticism so early in the game.
The concern here is twofold:
1) If you perform searches in the archive, you're likely to find a bunch more good advice than if you rely solely on the answers to one post.
2) The experienced members may get tired of answering the same questions day after day, when a bunch has been written on them already. That leaves the newer members with not much to rely on, unless they search the archives.
Nobody is trying to limit what anyone else can post. It's simply suggestions to new members on how to get the most out of your time online. I can't see a problem with that.
More and more, I have been seeing more people post erroneous info on the forum. When wrong info is posted is creates a ripple effect if it goes uncorrected. Please think before you post, if you don’t know the info or not sure about source, please mention it in your post, don't state it as fact. We all have wrong info or misconceptions from time to time, (I know I have been wrong a few times), but I just would like to keep the information as accurate as possible on this forum.
My other pet peeve is people, who don’t read the whole thread before posting.
one thing i do think we should do is log some of the more well used questions into a help forum. my ideas for this would be
#1 known head flow charts for different castings
#2 single mass conversions
#3 the gear ratio calculator link
#4 how to change your brakes the first time
#5 how to flush your coolant
#6 known clutch combos and part numbers for the ZF
#7 pictures of how to port your TPI at home & what's needed
#8 dyno charts from people with different cams, manifolds and cubic inches for comparison
#9 aftermarket stereo install and your options along with a walk through of how to make your double din a single din in two hours or less with fiberglass
#10 how to change your half shaft U joints in a couple hours {i think scorp may have already done a write up on this}
i seriously believe the above topics would do the C4 world a lot of good if they were ever logged for easy access.
This is an excellent idea. How can we create a knowledge base? Ideally, seed data should come from anybody who cares to contribute, but it should be verified and maintained centrally to ensure its accuracy. Categorizing this data into easy to find, easy to use sections would be light years ahead of the present search facility.
I have a little monitor. This kind of pisses me off.
On the Tech/Performance side, have you ever asked for car advice at the water cooler, gym, or bar? Was all the information 100% correct. How about the guy with the 700HP stock mustang that had to sell because it was just too fast.
The information here is better than most sources. If you want the facts.. just the facts.. buy the shop manuals. For friendly advice that you may need to verify look right here.
When I needed to help a buddy change a rear hub on the road I looked here for a tool list and basic instructions. Had all the right tools and only took about an hour.
Just my thoughts... please be warned I could be wrong.
I agree that a lot of the questions are being asked over and over again, but it must mean people are continuing to have the same problem. These must be common problems and maybe someone has come up with a better idea how to solve them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that right shouldn't be jeopardized.
I also agree to think before you post, but don't be afraid to post!!
This thread kind of worries me. I am sure no one deliberatley posts incorrect information. The originator must be aware that he/she is recieving opinions and to do due diligence and research the information that he has recieved.
When I post a question its like I am at the water fountain just throwing ideas out and listening to the results.
I would hate to have people stop posting or replying to my posts just because they are not absolutley sure of what they are saying. Its my job to filter out the BS.
