All I get is one electrical click coming from under the aluminum distributor cap cover. It just started happening last week.

Once in a great while it will turn over strong and start, but then after that it's back to clicking. I removed the starter and took it apart and inspected everything. The cables are all good. The wires are all good. I cleaned the chip in the key.The battery is good, it's new, but I checked it anyway. Voltage is good.

Any idea why the thing is clicking under the distributor cover?

I didn't put the starter back on, I'm gonna take it to have it tested. Apparently all the autozones and advanced auto stores around here have broken testers. Or so they say.

In another post I think you said you verified it’s not VATS. Kinda hard without an assistant but key to start are you getting 12v at solenoid? If not check this relay:

I ended up calling a wrecker a few minutes ago. Should be here soon. There's a place around the corner with a lot of old Corvette repair experience and they work on them regularly.

I appreciate that you took time to respond, though. I really do.

This'll be the very last repair on this paperweight. Gonna start shopping for a C5, I think. It's not even really enjoyable working on this C4 anymore. It's becoming one stupid thing after another.
