1985 fuel gauge help
On my 1985 I have had fuel gauge issues since I’ve owned it. I bought a new sender unit assembly along with pump since I was going into the tank. I replaced the sender and noticed now it reads 1/4 of a tank when it’s full. I removed the sender unit again and tested with the ignition On ( fuel pump fuse removed beforehand) I moved the float up and down which the gauge on the dash worked. I have come To the conclusion that the float for the sender must be hitting the side of the tank?

it takes a bit of knack to get it down in there properly....if you can make it read "full" by raising the arm, seems like you should bend the arm a bit....don't usually have to though.....I;ve changed mine a couple of times, never had to reset the float....guess it wouldn't be the first....good luck
