Default Did I get the wrong headers?

I bought a pair of Hooker 2151HKR used from a forum member and on Summit Racing it says they work for my car.

However when I look at the holes it has the square with rounded corners hole while my heads have the D shaped hole. So do these still work or am I just out a few hundred bucks or what? This is the gasket I was planning on getting and it also has the rounded square holes, but says it fits my car.

I think the idea is that the reversion pulse will hit the "D" of the head and at least partially block the exhaust gas from reentering the exhaust port.

Its easy to bolt them up on the floor while you have the heads off and see.

They should work, just bolt them on and look for leaks, no leaks and you will be fine.

Take the gasket and line it up on head. See if it fits. Then put gasket on headers and see if it fits.
I have headers shapped like that on raised D port fast burn heads. Had to make headers go up 1/4 inch so the exhaust was fully open.
But in your case looks like it should be fine.
.
Also I am running a LT1 exhaust gasket which are D shaped ports.

Yes the headers are the correct part number and do work for the car.

When I was running 2151s, I took a die grinder and opened up the corners of the flange where they were slightly intruding into the gasket area. Put the gasket over the header flange and shoot a picture.

All of the above are correct answers. The rectangular opening on the headers is bigger than the D-port openings on the heads. Verify that, and grind if necessary to ensure that it is so. I had 2151s on my 96 LT4, no problems.

Hello, I was looking at the pictures of the exhaust ports on the headers and there is a difference. Do the bolt holes line up on the heads and the headers? I have a 383 stroker too and I rebuilt all the drive train on my car. I was thinking of buying headers too but the factory headers are quite similar to shorty headers so I deleted the single cat exhaust that splits out to duals and bought a dual exhaust replacement on E Bay. I didnt replace the whole exhaust just where the single exhaust and cat was. I didnt get headers because of the difference in the port design. I guess you would have all kinds of leaks and port blockage using those headers even if they fit. I saw some shorty headers that matched up better but I didnt think they would improve performance that much over the stock factory headers. Maybe you could get a return on them Im suprised Hooker would sale stuff like that. Good luck with your car!

The C4 headers are made to fit L98s and LT1s. The port sizes won't always match exactly or be the same shape As long as they are bigger than the ports, they will be fine.

Alejandro,
Be very kind to yourself and purchase the very best of gaskets , why I say this ......In my experience the flange of Hookers( not just this brand) are not as sound (thick)as others and may be prone to distortion, do not torque beyond specified torque tolerances , two reasons,1) alumnum heads ,2) flange distortion....... use new studs or bolts..... also be confident that the flange actually is
a level plane as possible, really good straight edge or piece of glass , there are times that the welds that attach the down tubes to flange have not been correctly ground. Stay Well, Michael

Hello, Thanks for letting me know that they do fit! Its hard to tell from the pictures! I have been working a lot on the corvette. I finished rebuilding the transmission it was slipping a little. I got all the drive train rebuilt final!y! I took a picture of my car after I finished rebuilding the transmission.
