I'm considering installing a cold air intake on my 1990 L98. I'm looking at a Vortex.
1. Is the added performance really worth the money?
2. How much of a pain in the a** is it to install?
I was looking at the same mod - the responses from the pro's that have shared with you already sum up what I have researched as well.
It will look Kool - I also heard from pro's on this forum that "cutting the cowling" would also improve air flow - I'm searching for a picture from someone that has done this already.
****** up a A/O forced air intake set up when you get a chanch,,,, Then send me a pm and I will share some experience with you. Better yet give me a pm and I will share what I have before you do anything.. Gggg

Question is, even if you could improve the air flow, can you really use that extra air? This may be a case of "some is good, more must be better". Is your TB going to flow that air?
Every 10 degree drop in air temperature is 1% in engine power. The cold air intake is a great way to get the most out of what you have in your engine. Monitor the air inlet temps on your car in stop and go driving in the summer and you will see 150 degrees plus. On the highway the difference is not so dramatic but it is worth doing in my opinion. I have the SLP intake and it works great.

Hello aklim - thanks for your input. I don't know if "more air" will help or not. I just got this 1990 C4 w an L98 motor in it for my son and I'm trying to do some "easy 1st mods" to improve performance. For me this motor is not real impressive as it is - good top end, but my wife's Cadillac SUV will blow my vette's doors off - and that just doesn't sit right with me!

Intake, headers and a chip tune will be a good start

Unless you want to dump money, you had better learn to live with it.

Or trade it in for something more satisfying before you get upside down in the quest for more power. It can be done but it is easier with the newer systems.
