I'm looking for a video of the show's installation of a chip on a 92-93 Vette ECM. The only one I found on youtube was for a Camero (OK), but the guy couldn't frame a shot to save his life-- and his "oh wait, I think that; in backward" was not inspiring.
But then, my google-shui is kindof sh*t...
After many months of my car in storage at the last mechanics (worked out great for the winter as I didn't need to rent a garage), the mechanic died suddenly. Luckily, the car had been driven over to another shop for some transmission work (shift kit, deep-pan, etc), and the new guy now can get it to turn over. I'm assuming the dreaded VATS--which I already have a chip from PMC of NC to eliminate (along with other tunings).. When I bring it over to him, I want to put it in or know exactly how it goes in and watch him.
Just a lot of stuff around my "new to me Vette" and I want to start helicopter parenting it ;-)
Just a note that you cannot delete VATS with just a chip. On a 93 Corvette, VATS is controlled by the CCM, not the ECM. The ECM does have an input for VATS (which it uses to enable the fuel injectors), and it's this input that can be bypassed with a chip. The starter, however, is controlled by the CCM, and chipping the ECM won't do diddly about that issue.
So if it's not turning over, that chip isn't gonna help you. You need to first inspect the VATS key wiring harness for damage, and if it's intact, bypass the system using a resistor that matches the resistance of your car's key pellet. You can find this out by using a multimeter to read the little metal tabs on the side of your key.
