Default Low Oil Pressure when Braking

Recently, my 87 L98 oil pressure drops to near 0 while braking and causes the oil light to come on, but it only happens for about a second then it returns to normal. Oil level is fine, idles around 20-30lbs warm and between 40-65 while driving, no knocks in the motor. Does anybody have any idea? Could it be the pickup tube?

Any new dents in oil pan that could have swung the pickup. Did you have pan off ever. The only thing I can think to check the pickup and not pull pan is drain oil and peer thru plug hole or use bore camera. Or put mechanical pressure gauge on car to confirm

If oil pan and the dipstick tubes are stock the dipstick should have GM# 14094758 stamped on it.

Yes it could be the oil pump pickup.

^^^^^^ This is true. On an 87 it is easy to drop the oil pan and check.

Okay, so it seems like the problem is more related to making turns rather than just slowing down. I noticed my oil pressure dropped a bit while taking curves. As for the dipstick it is correct for the car, in fact I bought the dipstick because the previous owner had bent the old one. I think the oil pan could've been changed at some point maybe? The dipstick actually doesnt fit all the way snug in the tube before it hits the bottom of the pan, which is why the old one mightve been bent, although I put 5 quarts of oil in it when I changed it and it read normal on the stick.
