thanks I will try that - i had read that the pcv will rattle until correct vac is achieved then it should click and not rattle - is that correct? where is a good place to connect for the vac test?
ok i pulled the hose off of the pcv valve and heard and felt what I thought was a lot of vacuum. I will hook up the vac tester - should the connection come at the back connections to the plenum?
line with the blue arrow? the red arrow goes no where
also I have to ask while looking up some of this on the forum, I noticed i am missing things I see in other peoples pictures of their 85 - some type of covered pipe that goes from the egr to the exhaust? and some type of check valve attached to lines at the plenum - I have never had these - is this a change that occurred naturally or from a PO?
ok i attached a vac gauge and found at idle/neutral (manual tranny). at 149* rpm at 670-700 the vac showed was between 18-19 when hooked to the port marked in red
which at least on the gauge says "normal". I am not sure if that is or not - does any of that sound right?
