Working my 1993. I just finished pulling the water pump and Opti due to coolant leaking from the water pump. While putting on the new water pump I diceided to do new wires and plugs (wires are original, I did the plugs 12 years ago). I still have the drain open and have not yet put the water pump on or hoses back together. I replaced plugs 2 and 4 and then moved on to 6 and 8. When I pulled 8 i heard a decent amount of coolant flow to the drain pan under the car. I didn't find any coolant when removing any of the plugs so far...but hearing that made me nervous. Did I just release pressure or do I have a bigger issue on my hands?
Could you do a compression test on #8 before you put everything back together? I know it would be cold but you could compare it to another cylinder cold. Was that plug clean?

If it ran fine before and the coolant didn't come from the plug hole and the plug wasn't wet....I wouldn't worry about it! It's more likely you maybe put some of your weight on the front end of the car or moved a heater hose a little bit while changing #8 and that was enough to allow the coolant to finish draining! Most likely a fluke deal, in the past, I've thought I had hoses drained and bumped them or they slipped out of the position that I propped them up in and had lots more coolant came out! Like I said, running fine, plug dry=don't sweat it👍
I know how you're mind is working, you're thinking I just pulled the plug and now it's allowing air into coolant jacket allowing flow. But let's be calm now, finish up the Opti install and wire routing leave the plugs out. Put the coolant system back together enough to and fill it pressure test coolant system see if that cylinder has coolant flow. If you pulled the plug and you had coolant flow out of plug hole on to you're hand I would be telling to plan a head removal.
Trufully I think it was just coincidences that a bit of air got behind a coolant pocket while fighting with a plug
