[tech] engine service light??
city driving i have no problems but when i'm on the highways after going over 70 for a while the "service engine soon" light pops up. i checked the coolant and res. then were both full. i changed the wires and plugs. used the autolites. i changed the oil about a month ago.
what trips this light? is there a checklist of things i can do until i can get this light to go out.?

What you described is usually a temporary faulty condition within your EGR system. It will set a code 32 if you know how to check your system codes. It's not a major problem. Mine's been doing it for 2 years, but I'll be replacing my EGR valve and EGR switch before my next smog cert. in Feb. My code 32 occurs after driving about 20 minutes at steady 70-75 mph, then it goes out in about another 20-25 miles. It's very sporadic on my '88. Normally replacing first the EGR switch, and/or the EGR valve itself will cure the error code.
