Default Help

So I made a dumb decision to buy a 1986 corvette semi **** box. Well the shifter didn’t shift out of park so I let it warm up and it shifted. Is that a thing y’all ever expected? And also the head lights won’t pop up is there any way I can manually force them up? I tried the **** but the headlight motors just click.

Did you disconnect the electrical connection at the headlamps? You must do that in order to manually operate them. Not sure about the shifter. Removing the console plate and operating the shifter may help you see what may be happening. Could need lubing or a bad cable. A little more information describing the problem may be needed..

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

So would the button not push or it would but the shifter wouldn't move or... BTW the lamp connectors are fairly larger 3 or four wires in a row.

There's a neutral safety switch on these cars to not let it shift out of Park unless the brake pedal is pressed. I would check all the contacts on that. I would also recommend cleaning all your contacts on everything you can. Battery, grounds, connectors, etc. There are a lot of electrical connections on these cars and they are the main cause for problems.

I have 2 85's that don't have that safety feature, never crossed my mind. Good tip.
