Around here, they're risking prison time for air bags and catalytic converters, as well as wheels and tires.

Live well,

Unfortunately this car is hard to move right now without an engine or trans, so I couldn't take it to a tire shop. I have removed these locking lug nuts in the past with wedging something in. I don't wish to smack my USA made craftsman sockets and risk ruining them to get ROC replacements. So I got the full set coming. I have been in the wrecking yard several times and seen good rims/tires on these cars still sitting there due to these locking lug nuts. I appreciate all the replies. If anyone needs to borrow one in the future maybe I can figure out some way to lend them out.

That's weird; working at a salvage yard was where I learned about pounding sockets on to a locking lug nut. We got cars in, all the time, that had locking lugs...no key. Pounding sockets on and zipping the lug off was a common regular technique. I wonder what is up w/the yard where you've seen them left on the cars. (?)

The LKQ yards in So Cal are where I usually go. I actually got a Dana 44 a couple of weeks ago out of a 90 and it had locking lugs. I got them off using my method of wedging something in between the socket. Unfortunately LKQ is so careless with their handling of the cars the rims had deep gouges like the fork lift driver was drunk and couldn't aim straight. This project 85 I got also has a Dana 44 on it. The guy was going to convert it to a 4+3, but didn't get far. I am going to put a Dana 36 back in. I really don't feel like breaking sockets or lugs.

Sockets are warrantied...lugs won't break and are a worthless annoyance anyway. But, your choice.

The warranty replacements are Chinese. I prefer to keep my sets original and they are sentimental to me, they were all given to me by my father while I was growing up. I thought this was a valid excuse to buy more tools as well.

Update. So I purchased the full set of wheel locks on Tuesday night 4/5. Amcor did not ship them out until 4/13 and I finally received them today 4/18. I emailed them and got no response. I posted a google review and finally got a response then saying the post office had them and didn't update the tracking, but coincidentally the post office updated it that night (the guy that responded to my google review was the same guy that left their only other review that was a 5 star). Anyways, the icing on the cake is they used their Women's Restroom and Men's Restroom sign in and sign out sheets as packing filler. WTF!!!! What kind of company makes their employees sign in and out of the restroom? What kind of company sends that crap out to customers? I feel like they could have just thrown some rat feces in to seal the deal.

It worked. Got the locking lug nuts off this evening. They all look so similar it would have been a crap shoot to get the right one. They were on crazy tight too.

In 2019 my son and I did the HPDI at the Motorsports park in Bowling Green. Part of the prep for track day besides making sure all fluids are fresh was to remove the locking lugs and replace with regular lug nuts . I have many extra nuts and even another set of locks . The regular lugs have remained on car . I have not re installed the locks . I can remember working in the tire and auto repair business from 1982 - 1990 . The only people that locks ever caused issues with were owners who constantly misplaced them. Many lost them after going to a shop or dealer for service . We always were able to get them off no matter what . I actually knew a guy who stole brand new wheel and tires right off the dealer lots . So apparently they didn't stop him either . Locks were really the rage them. Even if you bought a new set of Cragar SS's we sold locks with them .

I took them off, but am leaving them stashed away in the car. Someone else someday may want them. I have plenty of regular lugs myself.
