$399 for a $20 radio, unreal. You can get these in the junk yards all day long. Many gm cars used them. I have a few and all work but the good upgrade is the 10 speaker monsoon out of a 1997 -2002 pontiac. Kicks the tail out of a 80s bose, cheap, same mounting, just need to rewire. Also has cd and aux.
My 95 radio went out. I wanted to keep the car all original and after some searching on the internet found a specialist in Texas that refurbished it like new. I believe it was… $190(?) but in my mind well worth it. I wish I could remember his name, (something like) Corvette radio Doctor. I will search again but you might be able to find him. Service was outstanding, he took all my calls and was exceptionally nice and went the extra mile to make sure I was all set.
OK, just found it. Doctor Don’s I can’t recommend his services enough. Good luck!
AliExpress, mounted with home made bracket ( simple pieces of L shaped aluminium riveted to radio mounting frame). 4x40W
Any other pictures? What are your overall impressions of it so far? Seems to fit very well, I don't understand why so few manufacturers don't offer 1.5 DIN....there's definitely still a market for it!!! Thanks for posting this, gonna look into it, still on the fence about if I'm going rebuild amps and keep the Bose, or go modern....my days of multiple amps and sub-woofers are long gone....but I do want cameras front and rear, wireless Bluetooth, GPS, etc...I'd do a smaller 4-channel amp for the factory speaker locations, but no MDF box in my vette....does it have front/rear/sub pre-outs and remote turn-on wire for an amp? Anyway, looks good👍
Yes all pre-out, remote amp and antenna triggers. Built in amp is not terrific but it works with my JBL stage 3, less than 200 for radio + speakers. Do not stuff rear speakers too much. Front are in the dash (drilled the plastic and changed the fabric) for better clarity. Did select the wiring from comvette project.
