Default radiator fan

i have an 89 and the fan won`t kick on. i was just watching it go to 220 and it did not go on. i know the fan works, i put a paper clip in the 2 obd ports and it ran. what should i look for?

Check or replace your coolant temp sensor. Around $10-15 . Not sure of the location on your 89 but my 84 sensor is located in the passenger cylinder head between #6 and #8 cylinders.

i just checked it and the fan kicks on at 228. seems high but if thats normal l`m ok with it
