That's what I am going to do.
why the Lt4 hotcam?
I would go with a custom ground cam or at least the Xe series.
The hotcam is a good cam, but you can get better results with the same durration :)

combination motorsports flys him into vegas from PA to tune their cars.
he has the hotcam tuning NAILED
and he only charges $150 for OBDII and $100 for OBDI
I have his tuning
hes amazing!
In addition to LT1 Edit, you need scan/datalogging software such as OBD-2, Autotap, etc for analysis. Unless you have a chassis dyno :D you need a cheap Pentium 133 or better laptop so you can drive around and log data.
Patience is everything. Go slow, understand your data, and make programming corrections. Join the LT1 Edit mailing list, etc, etc. The nice thing about the HOT Cam is it performs adequately with the stock programming allowing you to work at your own pace to optimize your tuning.
Keep in mind if you're not knowledgeable about tuning and don't have a lot of patience, you CAN blow up your engine if you rush into things and start making big changes in lots of tables.
And then there's all the little stuff it can do....fuel cutoff, correction for new gears, fan temps, CAGS!, disable specific diagnostic routines (i.e. install long tubes and you can disable the rear o2 sensors), change the ASR timing retard parameters, etc, etc.
