I didnt buy the junk, it was given to me. Now its my teenagers ...father and son project... mostly my money.. his time. I figure I will spend $4k in a car that may be worth $2k.
I have a few of these distributors from junk yards but the plastic parts that go thru the side housing are open and I dont really want to "goop" it up with RTV. I think one of the harnesses you can buy.... the one with the capacitor but the other one iam SOL. You would think with as many GM HEI cars out there someone would make parts for restoration.
Oh, I think I saw this in another thread. Man I wouldn't buy a new distributor just for that. I think in the other thread someone mentioned "The Right Stuff", and believe me, that stuff is the right stuff to use. It'll only cost you $10 or $12 and do the same thing as the missing stuff.Use the money elsewhere in the build. Good luck!
Never used right stuff BUT I have read on the electronics forums that you should never use RTV on bare wiring (which I have at the connector) There is a chemical in RTV that reacts with the copper wiring. So I am not sure whats in right stuff but I might try a sample of it.

Then the wires have chafed the insulation off, I see your concern, I wouldn't use that either. Buy a new pick up with the wiring harness and right stuff that into place.
