I just put a new Dana 44 diff in my 96 LT4 with manual transmission. The old one howled but no vibration. Now I have a low frequency vibration/hum 65-80mph. I would suspect tires had I not just done all this work. Suggestions? Thx.
Suppliers of rear ends often have contact from customers with concerns and sometimes they exchange them. If this was purchased / rebuilt the builder (if they are honest) is the best source of help.
Does anybody have a recommendation for a cell-phone-based vibration analyzer? That would allow me to identify drive shaft or wheel/half shaft vibration. Thx

I use one called "Vibration" in my airplane. It is easy to use and pretty sensitive. Works on iPad and iPhone. Search for it on the App Store
There's been several post lately about vibration. If you can identify the frequency, with a couple simple calculations you can identify the source. Cell phones have an accelerometer and you can install an app (I am using Resonance) which provides frequencies and amplitudes.
In my case, it clearly indicates drive shaft vibration, eliminating tire or half shaft vibration. Much less costly "shotgunning" of the problem!
