So I have to fit an intercooler in to keep it smog legal with the procharger p600b. I've been going crazy trying to fit different intercoolers where the air filter was or in front of the radiator. A decent size intercooler is going to make it overheat. I'm down to thinking of mounting it on top of the super ram/ cut a hole in hood and put an air scoop over it (subaru successfully runs them there).Has anyone done this? Instead of two separate intercoolers in that position on the sides like the Callaway I'm thinking of one in the middle. The "Vader" style hood scoop looks pretty decent and it can be cut to flow air, but I don't know if its tall enough.
Thoughts? Ideas?
Why don't you just buy the intercooled system from Procharger? if need add a larger radiator.
procharger hasnt put any recent r&d into their c4 kit
the small restrictive intercooler in that kit costs 3 psi (its restrictive) and its benefit on lowering IAT’s is going to be less than a modern intercooler
What about methanol / water injection?
I have an Aquamist injection with a P600b supercharger and the air cooling works really well. I made the tank to replace the spare tire.
Easy to install
I was running the water injection with the paxton sn2000-part of the eo number. But with the procharger to remain smog legal (Kali) it has to have an intercooler.
I'll have to mount the IC a couple inches above the super ram plenum, intake and output to the rear, cut a tight fitting hole in the hood/ seal up around it with weatherstrip. Then put the scoop over that and open it up at the front to flow the most air. I've been measuring over under and around that car and this seems like the only viable option.

The Hood picture probably will have very i;little air flow coming in the front. The holes are probably more for looks than anything else. The rear of the Hood being up near the Windsheild should get some Air Flow though and You should plan on the Air movement coming from that direction. I wouldn't be surprised if the front scoops don't have air going backwards and out the scoops at certain speeds.
I was definitely planning on opening up the nose as much as possible. It was after looking closely at the twin turbo calloway hood intake from inside hood pics that I came up with this idea.
Have you thought about a liquid cooled intercooler option? You'll need to install a small radiator to cool the liquid that goes through it but they are pretty effective. It's what my Roush and Hellcat use to cool the air charges.
I don't know if they are still being made but you could mount the liquid radiator behind the license plate and install one of those ram air charger in the filler panel to get it airflow. This shouldn't impact the cooling system airflow but may help solve your problems. You'd have to trim the honeycomb structure for the bumper impact absorber but their should be enough space for a small radiator there.
Just trying to throw out some ideas for you. Not sure on actual feasibility, but logically it seems like it should work.
Just as an FYI, back in 1984/85 Ford used a hood scooped horizontal intercooler for the turbocharged Mustang SVO. So it does work to get air off the hood and push it through.
Depending on the size and position of a horizontal intercooler, there are sealing gaskets still available and could possibly be adapted, even if you had to run 2 side by side and a piece of flat stock down the middle of the IC to make a sealing surface (that is if a person uses an IC that is bigger than these gaskets.
Well, here's what I have-I still need to finish up the scoop-some sanding and bolt it down. Then I'll take it back off for paint matching. I think the intercooler will get fed plenty of air. And the radiator will also get plenty of air.

For me, the temperature drops with methanol at 50% full throttle.
Is there a reason you can't run meth as well as an i/c?
Sure, quite a few folk have. However I already sold my complete water/meth injection kit with the Paxton SN2000 that I had on there previously-it would be even tighter fitting everything now with the IC and the Kali EO for the Procharger lists an IC, not the water/meth injection. So I'll tune for the IC and make it work.

I've been looking into upgrading my P600 impeller. It looks like a how to rebuild on youtube was you? You used the upgraded impeller? Do you happen to have before and after boost? Thanks! I'm still on part throttle VE tuning so don't have a current max boost number with the stock impellor and the new 401 engine.
