can you access the airflow temp sensor and egr connection with the upper intake and tube runners installed or do they need to be connected prior to assembly of the intake?

Easiest to do it before assembly, but you can get to them for the most part if you pull just the plenum.

To change or install the Air sensor is pretty much impossible, if you forgot to plug it in can be done. I have done it but wished I hadn't forgotten it. You will need some long thin screwdrivers maybe some long needle nose pliers or real long forceps.

You have to toy the plug into the sensor, once lined up push it in with screwdriver.
I'm not sure about the EGR that might be doable but distributor might need to come out. Plenums are not hard to remove, more than once I have loosened one side and removed center.
