Electrical Problems
1994 corvette coupe
symptoms/issues:
-Air Bag light is on under normal circumstances, unless I start the car with the driver’s door open.
-When I shut the driver’s door, it sounds like the passenger’s door tries to lock.
-The hatch doesn’t always want to open (When it doesn’t work, I can hear a faint click when I hit the switch in the door or the console).
Initially I blamed the hatch on the door hatch switch. I took it out and cleaned the contacts as best as I could.
Then I realized that there’s a link between that and the door ajar switch and sometimes things act funny with the driver’s door, so I replaced the door ajar switch.
The air bag light has been on. But I’ve noticed that if I start the driver’s door is open the air bag light will blink a few times and then go off.
Is there a link between the driver’s door, the air bag and the hatch opening?
I will check the resistance from the console hatch switch to the negative battery terminal (as a reference I will find another point to check resistance as well). The non volt meter method would be to run a test ground wire from the battery to the console switch.
