headlight motors
Are early C4 headlight motors serviceable? Relays are fine, and the motor will close the headlight door if you manuaaly open it with the know first. It just won't open the door. So the motor works. Are there contacts I could clean or something like that? Or do I just have to fork over the cash for a new motor?
I'm going to install the plastic gears from Mid America in my headlights.....should fix the problem....better than bronze...that way won't screw up my system....bronze will wreak hovac on the headlight system....at least so I've heard...

Re: headlight motors (jackdaroofer)
In short, likely it is the gears, not the motor assy and the gears are serviceable at a lot less cost than the motor assy

I replaced the gears last Saturday. Today I checked relays. They were both good. If you turn the manual **** to open the door, then reconnect the harness, the motor will close the door. It just won't open it. So where does that leave me? Gears are new. Relays work. Motor works. The only thing left is whatever part on the motor that switches polarity between the open and close function.
