Default programming the key fob

98 coup. I tried to program the key fob using the DIC I followed the step by step instructions
found in the ultimate c 5 thread
step 1 turn the radio off and the key on
step 2 press the reset button
step 3 press the options button until the display is blank
step 4 hold the reset button for 3 seconds
step 5 says to press the options button and hold until for training is displayed
When the options button is pressedd in step 5 the options advance to the next choice . it never displays a training message
The car is supposed to have a passive entry system and the tire pressure monitor system works
what can I do to get the key fob to work?
