Question (and a little thread hijack)-- could you use this emulator, or whatever boosted is calling their version, and swap tunes on the fly? Say I was highway driving to the dragon, could I use a gas-efficient "milage" tune on the way there, and switch to a high-performance tune when I got there?
You could use a bin switcher, or an emulator to load a different tune. There’s a guy on gear head efi that offers a piggyback with bin switch in classified section.

Hi folks, I'm the guy that designed these, and they are still available. Without the bank-switch attached, they are a direct replacement for the Moates G1. Note that the eBay link in that thread is broken, but the PayPal link is valid (https://py.pl/CFN9B). I'd be happy to answer any questions about the adapter. Thanks!
Hello, I have an 89 6 spd. I just bought a GM ECM. And the car is running better. Amazingly, changing the spark plugs from iridium to AC Delco made a VERY BIG improvment. So I am wrinting to ask if anyone has experience with the OSTRICH emulator?
Thank you
iridium were always garbage plugs to me, even leaving me with a no-start condition which wouldnt have occurred with std copper tip plugs
how?
The iridium is expensive so they make rhe electrode as small as possible
i had an (unheated) stock o2 sensor fail (on my 1993), making the car run pig rich

Ditch the Ostrich since Moates is out of business now. Go with the EBL from Dynamic EFI and start laptop tuning and NOT have to worry about or mess with chip swapping. I ran an Ostrich for a while, what a POS. I switched to EBL long ago and NEVER looked back.

Surprised to hear that. I absolutely love my Ostrich-II. Absolutely the best thing since sliced bread for tuning on a OBD1 system.
In fact, if it wasn't for the Ostrich, I would have ditched my OBD1 setup a long time ago... pulling chips out and all that crap... no way I would have gotten my setup dialed in like that the way it is now.
In fact, the very claim to fame on the Ostrich is to not have to pull chips out to re-burn them. It turns the system into a "flashable" one where you can re-program it on the fly... just pull over to the curb, make a change w/o even turning off the engine. The EBL, while it's a great system... but from what I understand, it requires to shut the car off to make a change.
The other thing is I think the P4 system is discontinued.

While you may love the Ostrich, I ran it for a few years and it sucked. It would dump my tune at the most inappropriate time while driving and almost caused an accident having me have to upload the tune again and always had to carry my laptop with me. Also, when the battery gets low, you replace the unit, not the battery. I ditched that for the EBL and NEVER had to carry my laptop with me again. Tuning was easy and very effective. My goal now is 11.99 this winter with the EBL, NA. The EBL P4 Flash is still available for purchase today.
