1991 FX3 Shock Replacement
Can FX3 shocks on a 1991 be replaced with non-FX3 shocks? Is a set of FX3 simulators needed?

Pretty sure you can bolt up any C4 shocks, unplug the actuators from the FX3 wiring harness, bag and tuck the unused actuator connectors, and then ignore or remove the service ride control warning light.

I have a set of front and rear fx3 shocks in good condition listed in the for sale section from a 91. I'd let them go for $450 shipped. All 4 have good gears. Add $200 for a pair of front actuators with good collars. It takes all of my weight to compress them and then they return to fully extended when I let go.

Yak is on the right path. To take care of the light, just unplug the controller in the ABS cubby behind the driver seat.
