Default 3rd party inspection

Hello, I'm new here. Is this the correct forum - I am looking to buy a C4 and am conducting a US-wide search. I will need to find an experienced mechanic nearby to inspect prospects. If not, can you please advise where to post? thank you.

Welcome to the forum! Hiring an inspection company works for many cars. The C4 is a whole different animal. To get your moneys worth, you need someone the a deep knowledge of the C4. I would be willing to bet most inspectors couldn't operate the parking brake.Finding a local mechanic willing to work on a car that is 27 to 39 years old can be a daunting task. I don't know an easy solution short of seeing the car in person. I recommend picking up a copy of :

C4 Corvette Buyers Guide: A Reference for the Purchase and Maintenance of the 4th Generation Corvette by John Loughmiller.

There are sub forums based on geographic locations on this forum. But knowing how much to trust any particular member is up to you. If money isnt an object of the conversation, just fly and buy like that VikingTrader guy. He seems to reluctantly enjoy the hell out of buying cars at a distance.
